The history of Sony goes back to 1946; it was at this time that Sony was founded by Masaru Ibuka and Akio Morita. It was originally called Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo (Tokyo Telecommunications Engineering Company) TTK was already being used by another company so a new name had to be found.
